super jewel box

I actually had these done quite a while back, so this is a very fashionably late post.

When it comes to my own designs I’m generally quite indecisive and changes my mind almost all the time. The 1st cover is from one of the characters in my animation for the Shots magazine. In a sense he’s a fire-god of some sort and I added in the colour stripes behind him to make it look more contemporary.

And this is option 2, I felt that the fire-god was a bit too serious, so I used these little ones, they are the same guys from the business cards I made.

Voila!*The Chinese symbol on the top right corner represents the “meng” part of my name.

I created these for a pitch for American Swiss. They’re quite ‘bling’ aren’t they :)

Kulula

I did this style frame for a Kulula viral, which features Z-news.

The idea behind this is to make the scene look like it’s part of a puppet show. We’ve decided to take that further by combining live footage of the cardboard cut-out letters and airplane, with computer generated background elements.

After completing the 1st portrait for my friend Meg, the possitive feedbacks encouraged me to do more. So I have started doing a mini series of these. Below’s the first one I’ve done. Trying the minimalist approach, slightly menacing :) , my own version of Cleon Peterson.

Lately things have been a little manic.

I’m busy working on the Heads-up displays for this year’s Loeries Award. To be honest I don’t think I’ve worked on anything this different before, and especially clueless when it comes to designing sci-fi space craft computer interface!

For this year’s award especially, there have been more categories involved, which means a lot more work for us. However because there was such a huge amount of work to do that it provided a great opportunity to better and mature my designs, in which I was pretty much pulling my hair out in the first few weeks, and by the end of it I really had it all waxed!

Here are some stills from the animation. The 3D background is created by the guys here at Wicked.
